I have never, ever, never, EVER once in my life been unaware that I love to write. I love to write letters, I love to write stories, I love to write blogs and I love to write to-do lists. It has been my undying dream that I would spend my life sitting in cafes, sipping on cappucinos and just writing, writing, writing - and getting published and getting paid to do it and having people actually get something out of what I wrote. And up until recently, I was doing absolutely nothing about it. Because it was my ultimate dream; my perfect career scenario and nobody ever gets their perfect career scenario, right? That was my thinking. This is what I really want, so I am probably not going to get it, so I am going to work at a corporate job and collect a steady paycheck and be miserable. I soon realized I was working myself into a depression, I was so miserable. And I am a happy person! So the buried, nearly dead, old happy me finally spoke up in a nearly muted whisper and said, “FUCK THIS.” And I quit my job, and I moved home, and I have no money, but I am happy because, for once, I am actually doing something about this whole “I want to be a writer” shenanzies. And while it’s possible that I still might not accomplish that dream, it’s not going to be for a lack of trying. Holla.
Also, I’m a 24-year old lover (not a fighter) who is shamelessly ambitious, slightly exhibitionist but also slightly shy and addicted to “Friends”, cream soda and a really superb book.
Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
People who like writing, macaroni & cheese, the television show "Friends" and their mothers - oh and people who just generally like reading about other people's lives( triumphs, mishaps and lessons learned) - will love my blog!
Haha OK, understandable. I panicked -- "oh no! I hope she's not giving up blogging!" because the pink and exclamation point in your title really make me happy ;-)
I completely get that, too -- boy, do I. I have had many a blog incident in my mere 11 months of blogging...I'll go into detail if ever we meet. Luckily, since my job is writing, when people do come across it, it's not usually too big a deal (vs. for people who are in other professions and blog about their jobs, careers), but still I get extremely embarrassed when someone from my professional life stumbles upon it because it's the unedited, unpolished me and doesn't reflect my professional writing, ya know? Oh well, though, what are you gonna do? I really hate feeling like I have to censor myself on MY OWN BLOG.
Have a nice, sunny, San Fran day! The weather this week is just amazing!
Buongorno, bella! Ha, that's about the extent of my Italian (other than being able to ramble on about cars and buildings and buses being old and new and big and small!).
I just started a Bay Area bloggers group; I'm not sure how to send out invites, but you should join =)
Oh, and I, too, am trying to learn Italian, primarily because as a travel writer, I feel pretty stupid for only speaking English and Spanish, and I'm heading to Italy for work next month. How is your learning going? So far, I know very helpful phrases like "I have an old truck!" I'm sure that will prove invaluable once I arrive in Naples ;-)
