The Sea Green Report is a blog based in fabulous San Francisco.
Through this blog I will provide readers, fellow bloggers and reporters with a fresh look at what being green means today.
I want to take a hard look at ‘green’ claims and report on the environmental impacts of our actions. But I also want to have some fun, geek-out on science and write about everything from green tips that I am trying to incorporate into my life to eco-fashion.
I am a recent grad and have a fancy master’s degree in journalism and mass communication and a certificate in environment, policy and science. Whew! So like many of you I am now on the job hunt and am trying to write my way into my dream job.
I have heard the full breadth of lectures with miserable titles like “The Death of Journalism” and “The End of News,” yet here I am typing away. Why? Because I believe there is a place for writers such as myself in the journalism/media/social media/non-profit/business world.
I believe that there is a need for good communicators who can translate the latest scientific/environmental knowledge into easy-to-read pieces, who can tweet while covering an event, build Web sites, connect with readers through social media and adapt to the new ways stories are being told.
So I’m going for it – wish me luck or doom or vegan chocolate chip cupcakes just do it on twitter, in the comment section below or with a snappy e-mail!
