I guess I didn’t write for a long time now because well, on one hand many things have happened and on the other, nothing has. Where do you live:: Europe, hoping from country to country from time to time.

Relationship Status:: Single, Looking, Bored with it all

About Me:: I’ve been dating now for more than 12 years. I couldn’t say I’ve had it all, but I’ve had a good number of up and downs in the way. I’ve been madly in love as well as being terribly broken hearted. I’ve looked for deeper emotional connections and I’ve had shallow sex. I’ve lived my emotions intensively and I’ve cautiously tiptoed into feelings because I didn’t want to feel anything and get hurt again. I’m your classic story for a close to 30 year old single woman with a western life style who has developed certain patterns, but doesn’t understand them yet. So what does that story tell you briefly?

* On a rough count, I’ve dated seventeen men (and counting).
* I’ve slept with twelve men (and counting).
* I’ve had only one one-night-stand.
* I’ve had only one fuck buddy.
* I called two men “the love of my life”.
* I left my country and moved to another one for love.
* I wished I was madly in love with one man at the right time, but I wasn’t.
* I’ve hurt someone really badly when I broke up with him.
* Someone hurt me terribly when he broke up with me. I cried six months.
* My longest relationship was 5 years.
* My shortest relationship was a month and a half.
* I’ve cheated on someone once. He never knew.
* I was cheated on once (as far as I know). I found out.

So besides that short of my dating history, my story says professionally I am fairly successful (I finished Grad School and I work in a global organization with a fairly interesting job), I traveled a bit here and there (traveling since 2000 I have lived in 5 countries and visited a larger bunch), I have a family that loves me (and drives me crazy at times) even if I left them a long time ago and I have few good friends, spread across the world, but no matter what, when we meet it is like time hasn’t passed by.

I question the concepts of monogamy and marriage, because with a few bruises one simply does it, but I want to believe somewhere, out there is the one that will be able to bare all my manias and my slight neurosis and I won’t end up alone in my death bed (which is my secret fear hidden behind all the successful super confident facade).

And as some people write about all those deep and meaningful topics, or about really advanced stuff I thought… Why don’t I write about my mundane dating topics? Just to tell it, sometimes I will vent, sometimes to share a thought and sometimes to get some back… point being… Why not?

So what is a têtê à têtê? A têtê à têtê refers to the times in which we sit one in front of another, we tell our stories, and we get close to one another. You never know when the person you are on a date with, in a rendezvous, will be the man of your life, or at least for a while.

I don’t know about “happily ever after”, but at least I know about “as long as it lasts”, we will see how it goes now.
