I wish I could tell you that I'm a simple girl, but that would be the biggest lie I've ever told. And actually...I'm glad I can't tell you that.
I'm a pre-med student working my way towards becoming a pediatrician. I'm majoring in biology and minoring in Religious Studies (make sense of that combination).
I'm the type of girl that could sit with a cup of coffee and an old friend (or new friend) and talk for hours about whatever subjects happen to come up. Quality conversation keeps me motivated. I appreciate deep friendships as opposed to superficial acquaintances. To me, one good friend is far better than 15 people I have fun hanging out with every once in awhile.
I resent Disney and people like Jane Austen for feeding little girls lies about love since the beginning of time. Now, females have this jaded idea of a perfect prince (or princess) coming to sweep them off their feet and then they are heartbroken when their prince/princess turns out to be not so charming. I'll believe in love when I find it.
i like your take on love and the prince charming effect. i'm glad someone else out there feels the same way. i was watching the premiere of "The Marriage Ref" tonight and the host said, "don't worry about finding your soul mate because they don't exist. just try and find someone you can tolerate and marry them." i thought that was awesome.
Sarah, that's such a huge part of the problem. Way too often we forget about the obligation to care for the girls after they've been brought out of slavery.
It's like what Mother Teresa said about the abortion debate: You better not speak out against abortion until you're ready to adopt some babies and their mothers.
Our realization that help happens even after "freedom" comes is vital in the success of thwarting this.
BTW, did you hear that Ashton Kutcher and his wife started a foundation to fight slavery and trafficking? It launched yesterday: The DNA Foundation: http://www.demiandashton.org
Thanks for the friend request! :) Be well!
PS Stay tuned to my blog, I have a post coming soon where i talk a bit more in depth about the trafficking/conditions we faced in India.

Aww, you just made my day! Thank you so much! And I think that's the neatest thing ever that you are working towards becoming an oncologist. Cancer not only took my father's life but 3 of aunts and my cousin, so finding a cure is a big deal to me! Anyway, I just stopped by your blog and enjoyed reading your last few posts. We have a lot of things in common! #1 We are both Christians. #2. I love the sunset (or sunrise?) picture at the top. And #3, you like white chocolate mochas! Haha.. Okay sorry I wrote a novel. Good luck with your studies! :)
