I mean what INSPIRES you? What really gets your creative juices flowing? I want to know why you get out of bed in the morning. Is it because your dogs licks your faces so many times that you have to…Continue

Relationship Status:
Single
About Me:
I'm a dancer. I like to think of my self as a creative mover, but sometimes I just fall flat on my face, (physically and metaphorically). My love for writing started when I was very young - I used to narrate stories while my mom wrote them down. Because back then I was still trying to form the perfect cursive "S." Now I have my handy Mac, which I like to take with me everywhere. But don't worry, I'm not one of those coffee shop girls who whores her silver PowerBook out and makes it strut round the table with decals and witty quotes posted all over the front, while sipping a double, what-ever what-ever. I prefer to do my computer work at home, and save coffee shops for a dirty chai, good conversation, always accompanied by pen and paper.

People who like to think differently and who can appreciate poetry that doesn't rhyme.
What makes you different from other bloggers?
I like to think I have a unique perspective on ordinary issues. I like to move my body, and I write about it.

ART

"When the artist is alive in any person, whatever his kind of work may be, he becomes an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressing creature. He becomes interesting to other people. He disturbs, upsets, enlightens, and he opens ways for a better understanding. Where those who are not artists are trying to close the book, he opens it, shows there are still more pages possible... [The artist] simply has to find the gain in the work itself, not outside it."

DANCE

"Open your arms when you dance, my daughter, for through your dancing life will awaken."

Finding time to write amidst unpacking and reevaluating my life...

Because this need to put things on paper is overwhelming.

There's something about writing, that makes my thoughts seem more validated.

Whether or not anyone ever reads my words is arbitrary,

Just hearing the click, click, click of my fingers on the keyboard, and knowing that my musings are out instead of in, is at least somewhat comforting.

To put it in writing where I can see, and read, and hope to understand.

Being a 20 something is by no means easy for me right now,… Continue

Hi! I just found you through the group 20 Something Writers. Dancing and writing - both awesome :) So you're not in Arizona for long? Where you headed next?

I hear the same! I've been told it's the biggest contrast you can find in a country, between have and have-nots especially.

Did you vote over at the form I linked to? Votes have to go through there to count.

Hey Shinay-

Glad you're liking the blog!

I let my readers choose where I go because until I started this project, I'd never left the country. I started my first business when I was 19, and therefore was always working my butt off when my family and friends would leave the country. Because of this, I wanted to go EVERYWHERE, and since my goal was to surround myself with the most brilliant people possible through this blog, I'd let them decide for me. I could do worse!

I live in a place for four months because I prefer slow, integrated travel to tourism. Quick jaunts don't do it for me, and I feel like you can't get a legit experience in that amount of time, only a white-washed version of wherever you happen to be visiting.

The first 3 months I'm in a country, I rent a place and go to the grocery store (or market) and do my best to live like the locals do. I continue to run my businesses, but I put a lot of effort into building a life - making new friends, finding local haunts, seeking out new business opportunities, etc - and learning as much about the local language and culture and people as possible.

For the final month, I travel around from city to city, sometimes spending a week - sometimes spending a day - in each city and trying to see as much variety as possible.

In this way I feel I get a good depth of knowledge AND breadth of knowledge about a place and a people before I move on to the next country.
