My biggest piece of advice to people who are new to wine is drink what you LIKE! Don't listen to the pretentious wine snobs who say what you SHOULD like. I've had bottles of dirt cheap wine that taste much better than the wines that cost $50+ a bottle. So experiment, pair with different kinds of foods, taste all varietals, and if you have a Trader Joe's in your community, talk to people there because they know a LOT about wine and carry a wide variety of really reasonably priced wines! If not, then just go to your local grocery store and grab a bottle that you want to try. Have fun with it!

I checked out your blog and really enjoy it! (Boston is my FAVORITE US city, too. I lived in Newport, RI for a few years as a kid)
