Profile Information

Where do you live:
New York, NY
Relationship Status:
Single
About Me:
I lost my job due to the economy in the summer of 2009. I packed up my apartment, shipped everything home, and bought a one-way ticket to Tokyo. I've been traveling Asia ever since.

I've wanted to start a blog for as long as I can remember, but was always hesitant due to the "who would read it?" and other concerns like content, direction, etc. I finally started a blog about a year ago, but it was very personal and thus more of an anonymous online diary. Traveling gave me the perfect excuse to finally get a blog out into the open, and I've really loved it.

Travels are over; headed home to face the music. Very much looking forward to growing and developing my blog and writing.

How long have you been blogging:
I'm a newbie -- approximately six months.
Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
Rants and raves, for the most part. Also, food. And the environment.
What makes you different from other bloggers?
I don't know what I'm doing.

Au Naturel

For all of you not in the running world, you may not know that barefoot running is all the rage right now. Well, not all the rage per say, but getting there. There's definitely a movement, and it's rapidly gaining popularity.

Why would someone do something as ludicrous as run barefoot? Because it's easier on your body and you sustain far fewer injuries over the long-term. You also develop stronger muscles and ligaments and better form. How? Because when you step barefoot, you learn… Continue

Splatter Rage

The last few public restrooms I've had the pleasure of visiting in the past couple of days have been atrocious. And I'm not talking about odors or negligence from the management and/or cleaning staff. The sinks and overall areas have been well-kept to the point that Mr. Clean would be satisfied. My gripe is with the individuals that manage to urinate all over the fucking place.

For years I didn't understand how that was physically possible. Years. Decades. Pee on the seat, on the… Continue

Is Masochism Genetic?

Posted on May 13, 2010 at 10:00am 0 Comments

A few weeks ago I ran fourteen miles for the first time in my life. It was beyond difficult. After mile eleven my body was exhausted and wanted no part of running further; after mile thirteen my body nearly evicted me, with my knees screaming foul, my elbows spasming (I didn't know elbows spasmed), and every muscle angry and revolting against me. That last mile may have been the hardest mile I've ever ran. I was

seriously dragging.

But you know what? I did it.…

Spiced Cherry & Tomato Chutney

Posted on May 11, 2010 at 8:00pm 0 Comments

I made chutney for the first time tonight. It sort of evolved when trying to decide what to make for dinner. This is how my thought process goes: What to make? Pork, not beef. With what? Hmm, we have asparagus. And we're overdue for beans. Oh. Chutney goes with pork. That'll zip things up. I relayed this to my mom and she thinks there's something wrong with me. Who makes chutney? Why bother with the hassle?

It was no hassle. It was easy, and I enjoyed it. She says…
