Registered Dietitian, Runner, Blogger and completely in love with DC.
I'm big on traveling, love to run, always have a book, am usually studying, and make many attempts at Cooking...some successful, some not. I won't eat at a chain restaurant unless I have to; unique joints are all over the place and I'm all about supporting the local. On the hand, I never leave TJ Maxx or Target without a purchase. It's a gift, really.
Give me a good run, white-wine and some sunshine - I'm happy.
1. run, but not too hard or long b/c you want your legs rested and ready to go
2. carb load a bit the few days leading up to the race
3. make sure you're hydrated the few days before the race
4. get plenty of sleep
5. and enjoy!
Mainly, you just don't want to do anything that would strain your muscles. On race day make sure you eat a mix of carbs and protein a few hrs before that will stick with you, but not make you sick. During the run just make sure to take water/gatorade at the aid stations and down a gu/gel shot about halfway or whatever works for you.
