Today is an insanely odd day. There are thunder storms. Every so often I seen the flashes, heard the clashes, then the car alarms blaring in the distance. I felt the ground shake beneath me and the wind blow me left and right. The rain poured heavily down on me soaking me from head to toe. I closed my umbrella because I feared being struck by lighting like in the cartoons. I looked up at the sky and seen nothing but storm clouds--dark gray clouds with light stirring inside of them. The sight was rather eerie. The wind was blowing cold air in my face and with each exhale I could see my breath before me.
I began to hurry toward the gym lockers to get out of the storm. I walked quickly trying not to run and slip on some mud and fall. My shoes did me no justice; as old as they are the sole at the bottom has worn out and no longer gripped the cement as they used to. Clumsily I made it to the door and as soon as I placed my hand on the door knob I slipped but caught myself on the door handle and stood myself back up and walked in the door. I walked in the locker room, took off my coat, and sat with an indifferent look on my face.
I sat listening to the thunder and lighting calmly this time. I wasn't scared of being struck or seeing anything or anyone get struck either. Although occasionally the windows of the locker room would shake and the walls would rumble I no longer was scared. I realized that the weather outside was an exact reflection of how I felt on the inside. Heavy rain, loud thunder, obnoxious lightning, gray clouds, and even a tornado warning. Southern California, you never fail to confuse yet understand me.
