The Bloggers With The Most To Say

After a week of being sick with every kind of ailment imaginable (double eye infection, sore throat, severe allergies, including some kind-of funky reaction that resulted in swollen hands + lips), I decided to head to my parent’s house early Saturday morning for some TLC. There’s just something about having Mom and Dad take pity on me when I’m sick; I have no shame in whining and acting like a big mope… and eating everything in their pantry. Why can’t I be one of those people who loses their appetite when their sick? I could benefit from a quick 5lb weight loss. Ah well.

Luckily I felt better by Mother’s Day, not that we had anything fancy planned. Going out to eat for holidays is kinda overrated in my book, anyway. I prefer to stay home and cook, which is exactly what we did - and when I say we, I mean my Dad. I just watched and provided colorful dialogue which I’m sure he could have done without. ”Shouldn’t you chop the garlic a bit smaller?” ”In my professional opinion, you’re using too much salt.” But to my surprise, Dad totally proved himself a whiz in the kitchen. He made fresh tomato sauce, ravioli, filet mignon with melted goat cheese and a balsamic vinegarette drizzle (courtesy of Giada’s Everyday Italian cooking) and a potato and string bean salad. Top that with cappuccino and some fresh cheesecake, and my Mom was pleasantly surprised. Who knew he had it in him? They drove me back to the city early, as I still wasn’t feeling 100% and was just dying to get in bed with my favorite Sunday night TV shows: Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters (don’t judge). And now the anxiety of another work week settles in.. wish me luck.
