The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I went to the Frist yesterday to check out their Golden Age Couture exhibit. It's on loan from the Victoria & Albert Museum, which is pretty cool that they thought Nashville would be a good choice. I wanted to walk off with several of the Dior and Balenciaga pieces, they were gorgeous!

The layout of the exhibit was perfect. You had a small guide book or an audio tour instead of tons of text to read next to each piece. They covered the design process, the materials and techniques involved, the underpinnings, and the differences between day and evening couture. I liked that they kept pieces by the same designer clustered together so you could see the range as well as common signatures. The size of the exhibit was spot on. There were plenty of dresses to cover the era, but it wasn't overwhelming or museum fatigue inducing.

This cocktail number was my favorite. It's by Mme Gres, whom I had never heard of. The dress has spotted net overlay, a gorgeous little side bustle, and a wonderful shape. It was styled with an over the top feathered hat that reminded me of Lady Gaga.

Sorry for multiple RSS feeds, it's due to me posting from my iPad and having to tweak it. Image from
