Check this art out. Now! Our friend, Michael Orr, just had an opening for his art in Atlanta. I've always seen pieces in the lab or on Facebook, but it's awesome to see them all grouped together on his site over on Tumblr. I really like the geometry, the use of text with the image, and the organic abstraction. It draws your eye in and moves it around to view the details while seeing the whole. He has a lot of figural works, but I'm going to feature the more pure abstractions here as my faves. Go check him out.
Pop culture and fractals=nerd heaven! Fractals are so fascinating to me. Patterns and perfect geometry are just as natural and organic as fluid curvilinear forms. EDITOR NOTE: Pacman is by Jacob Joaquin, I missed the share on Michael's page. You can check him out at http://jacobjoaquin.tumblr.com.
This just looks like Frank Gehry's brain cells to me. All of his twisted, curved structures seem echoed in the imperfect circles.
A little more figural/representational, but who doesn't love Lisa Frank??? If you're in Atlanta, his show is up for a few more weeks at 7Stages. Get yourself a piece.
