Is it wrong to have your OWN fund raiser ???

Is it wrong to hold a fund raising event for yourself? Seriously? I'm considering it ... I do lots of charity work and apparently I have a boatload of good karma back logged somewhere, but it NEVER wants to show its face, ever!! I don't know the EXACT totals of all this dental garbage, but conservatively? We're looking at somewhere between $3,000 to $4,000 out of pocket. Now I don't know about you, but I don't have that much money just lying around. On top of that I'm going in for surgery on September 2nd and only the good Lord (and AETNA) knows what that will be costing me out of pocket. So I'm thinking, how truly awful would it be to have a Jenilee Fund Raiser .... ??
