Not too long ago, I learned of a dating service called, "It's Just Lunch".
(And no, I'm not looking to use a dating service.)
The concept of this service is just as simple as the name, "it's just
lunch". In other words, if this happens to be the worst date of your
life, at least you know it won't last longer than 60 minutes.
Now, the same concept can be applied to your eating habits.
Why? Because we are all in relationships with food. Some are positive and some are negative.
Eating is like dating - there are good days and there are bad days (or dates).
The most important thing to remember is that whether you ruined your
healthy eating at breakfast when you inhaled three doughnuts or you just
shared a meal with someone that resembles a swamp creature, you can
always start fresh the next day.
People are constantly struggling with self-control when it comes to
eating. It's so easy to forget that it's just one meal, just one lunch,
and that not to worry fatty, no need to lick your plate clean because if
you're still hungry after lunch, there's always dinner.
We've all heard of everything in moderation. There's a huge difference
between having a few bites of a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake and
devouring the 5 lb cake in under 5 minutes.
I've found that if you apply the "it's just..." rule to whatever food
you're eating, suddenly it's no longer hard to practice some
self-control.
So, try it with me. It's just cheesecake. It's just pizza. It's just pasta.
These foods will always be available to you. Nothing is forbidden just as nothing is so amazing that you can't live without it.
Trust me, it's just lunch.
