The music plays
It’s the only thing that makes her stop and pause
For those brief moments she allows herself to dwell
Some bring to mind your caress, your smell, your smile
All allow her mind to wander and her heart to ache

Running and hiding have become her hobbies
Her sole company on the long winding road she travels
Fear helps plant her back on the ground holding her prisoner
Thoughts of the past linger constantly shifting and shaping into memories

Fighting the tears that gather
Battling the doubt and the hesitation trying to push past
A desire has began to grow searching and hoping
Fleeting at times her strength is mounting and will propel her

Faith and determination are her allies in the battle she wages
And the music still plays on
