So . . . there was drama this past V-Day weekend-on Facebook of all places.
Amy, Lynn and I found out that our former friend Molly just got engaged over the weekend.
This pisses us off. Especially me.
Amy, Lynn, Molly, Jenny, and I used to be brunch and lounge buddies. We had the best times together-sleepovers, Christmas dinners, snowboarding trips to Mammoth. But then, there was a girl's weekend in Vegas that changed all that-and yes-it involved a boy-and no-this isn't the same vegas drama I mentioned in "Las Vegas Drama." Basically, when we got back, the 5 of us were no longer friends. It was pretty stupid but I can tell you that Molly was in the middle of it all.
This is the same Molly I tried to fix my friend Mark up with in "The Match Made In Hell" and who broke up with him when he didn't get her a Christmas gift worthy of her princess status. He bought her a French Connection dress. She broke up with him Christmas Day. Anyhow, after the whole Mark and Molly fiasco, there was always an awkward tension between Molly and me. We weren't close enough to talk about what had happened openly, but I sensed that she blamed me for their breakup. I think she felt he never gave her as much as she needed-partly because of his feelings for me. He and I had been friends for a few years before I set them up and I had always seen him as an older brother whereas, I guess he saw me as something more.
Anyhow, pre-Las Vegas drama, Molly and Jenny were clubbing one night at Boulevard3-on Sunset Blvd when Molly noticed a guy checking her out from across the room. He ended up getting her number-and as Molly later gloated to us-"He's a plastic surgeon! A definite upgrade from Mark."
Molly had been dating the plastic surgeon for a few weeks before we all went on the girl's trip to Vegas. The entire time we were there, she bragged about the romantic weekend in Santa Barbara he had planned for the two of them. "This is the type of guy I'm used to dating," she said smugly.
Amy, Lynn, and I rolled our eyes but let her ramble on. We were used to her gloating by now and put up with it because she could be funny and the life of the party despite her crazy egocentric ways.
But after the Vegas trip, we wondered how any guy could stand someone so crazy and manipulative. She's one of those incredibly charismatic people who make you feel like a superstar in the beginning, but after a while, their shiny veneer wears thin and inside the shell, you see a cold witch.
So you can imagine our outrage when we heard she got engaged. Before us. I know. It's petty but we're competitive like that.
I didn't hear the news until Amy and Lynn emailed me since I had completely cut ties with Molly after the Vegas fiasco.
Lynn was the first to email us:
"One of the first things I learned yesterday was that Molly got engaged over the
weekend...I mean, I'm happy for her (I guess?) but it's also kind of a
downer. I shouldn't have negative thoughts but I do and I try to remind
myself that isn't a good mental state to be in. But I'm only human."
In response, Amy sent us this:

In response, Amy sent us this:
"Yes, I saw that on fb too!!!! You're not alone because I was thinking...How such
an evil person could end up engaged to a doctor!!!! haha...But on the other hand, he will find out soon enough that she is fake and not really what she seems to be. Also, being married to a plastic surgeon, she will always have that pressure of looking good all the time, working out like crazy...It's ok Lynn, it's normal to feel this way...but still . . . "
So yeah, I guess this is a petty Wednesday for me. It irks me that she got what she wanted. And it irks me that he's a plastic surgeon. I know-this is so shallow. Can you tell how much I really like her?
Sigh. I don't have a lovism for this. . . yet.
