So this weekend we celebrated the wonderful birth of Delilah a mere 22 years ago! Delilah picked me up from work and we beelined it to
Zola Wine & Kitchen where every Friday they have a free wine tasting complete with an impressive finger food spread. After we sampled some Pinot, we headed out for a bar to snag some Happy Hour drinks. And so we ended up at
Rocket Bar. We got there around 6pm and the place was already packed. Rocket Bar is designed like the adult male's fantasy playroom: there's 17 HDTVs, 7 pool tables, dart boards, boardgames and 2 full bars. It's insane and when we stepped down there, there was definitely a male to female ratio of like 5:1. Basically it was impossible to leave here
without scoring some digits.

Delilah met these two guys at the bar and one of them convienently happened to be Scottish with an adorable accent to match. Check and mate. They were mildely pleasant to look at, but a little older than we were looking for (I snagged his ID on the premise "I want to see what a real Scottish license looks like!' and saw he was 28), but it was definitely pleasant to get out and hit on after a long week of grueling papers and endless tests. It was a fun place to hang around and the free drinks certainly helped. But the bar began to thin at around 8pm and we decided that we were hungry and it was time to head into Chinatown for some noodles and dim sum.
The next night we headed out to
Public where
some fight was going down which had literally every male's eyes in the DC area literally fixed unwavering to whatever TV screen was closest in vicinity. Like there were people standing five feet away from the bathroom trying to get a view of this game. So not exactly prime time to get some conversation started, but definitely some great eye-candy scoping. It definitely gave me hope that there were some potential male bachelors that were over 5 feet and could dress themselves. Alas, the crowd was way too intense and Delilah and I had vowed to play wing-man to our friend Robert who needed to
get some that night so we headed over to
Town.
Town is like the perfect night out for any girl. Hundreds of half naked men dance around and throw compliments at you every five minutes. It's basically an ego boost on steroids. And the best part is, you can dance with whoever you like and although there might be some awkward groping, at the end of the night you both part your different ways: you home- all your dancing diva fantasies fulfilled, and him with Alfonso, getting his fantasy fulfilled in a
whole different way. Either way, it's a win-win situation.
But this weekend was surprisingly enjoyable. Yes, I had a 20 page paper due on Monday and another 10 page paper and huge test to cram for Wednesday, but anytime I get to go out and be with my friends, I always manage to have an
amazing time. And we have some fun updates- later this week we will be announcing a new project that we will be participating in that will culminate with a
great give-away. Also we were asked to be on the GW radio show,
"Pull Your Skirt Back Down" tomorrow night at
10pm so tune in to hear us (You can listen to it for free on iTunes, too)!
