The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hello friends!

I currently use Blogger and I have no issues with it. However, I am looking to start a new blog project and was interested in getting some feedback as to other blog platforms as well. Which are your favorites and why?

Thanks!!

I'm a big fan of Wordpress. Blogger just seems like the MySpace of blogs (and I hate MySpace). Wordpress is usually cleaner, more professional looking, and I've been quite happy since I made the switch about a year and a half ago.

Hey Nic,
Thanks for sharing! I've heard good things about Wordpress, I'll have to look into it!
I am a fan of Wordpress and Tumblr. Wordpress can be free and Tumblr is always free. I currently am hosting my own Wordpress blog as I have the domain name and the hosting package.

I like the wordpress backend, it is easy to use and can be customized almost any way you want (when self hosting). The free accounts at wordpress.com are slightly limited in terms of what you can do for free, but they still offer great flexibility and the powerful wordpress engine and support.

Tumblr is nice and simple and is really quick to get started. If you know some code (HTML, CSS, and such) or know someone who does, it is completely customizable right out of the box. My one complaint about Tumblr is that it has no built in comment system. This sin't a huge deal as there are some great free options for comments, but you have to have some idea of what you are doing to get them working. It also lets you set your own domain name for free (provided you own a domain).

Tumblr can really turn into a "lifestream" site as it is very easy to have it import nearly everything that you do around the web. It can import your tweets, RSS feeds, blog posts from other blogs and more.

I tried blogger once, I think I only ever posted one post to it, just didn't click with me. Now it is owned by google.... they seem to own everything... On the other hand, a significant portion of the blogs that I read are on Blogger, so that must mean something.

Since all three are free (unless you go self hosted WP), I see no reason to not sign up and test them all out and see which one works best for what you want to do. Then, no matter what you choose now, you will have already reserved your name with the others if you ever decide to switch.

I've used both Blogger and Wordpress and both have their advantages. Wordpress is more of a CMS so you can do more as far as customizing. Blogger seems to be strictly for blogging.
I use WP since I have my own domain and it comes as an install for free. I really like the customization of it. It can take some getting used to but just a basic edit, like a header or background is pretty easy. I've used Blogger but it just felt kinda generic to me.
Word Press is the best hands down
Thank you all so much for all the input!! I'm thinking I'm going to try out Wordpress for the new blog! :)
Wordpress HANDS DOWN!!!!!
I personally use Wordpress since my site is a self-hosted blog/portfolio and using Wordpress as a CMS allows me to easily add new content and work whilst at the same time being able to edit my themes to be unique and individual to my site.

I've never used joomla, but I did take a look at it the other day. It didn't seem to offer anything that would make me change from Wordpress.
