The Bloggers With The Most To Say

It's pretty simple. Tell me about your best vacation ever.

Or your worst. That might be fun, too.

Oh this is really easy.

When I was 19, I went on my very first friends vacation. I should have known it was going to be a mess since it was girls from work who I wasn't super close with but we had decided to go to Disney and I had never been.

There was four of us all together but some how we still needed to take two cars. That right there should tell you how much shit we took with us for less than seven days in Florida. Now I live in Maryland so we had to drive about 16 hours to get there and I of course ended up with the only other girl who couldnt drive, thus I had to drive the whole thing myself. Luckily we did stop over night in the Pan Handle, but did I mention it was Daytona 500 weekend and we had to drive from city to city just find somewhere to sleep for a couple of hours?

The next day disaster struck. While on our way to Orlando, all of a sudden my rear driver's side tire blew. And I mean it shredded to a horrible condition. Like you know how you see those tires from 18 wheelers on the side of the road? Thats what my tire looked like. After calling my insurance company to get a pop a lock guy out there to change my tire since I was on the grass and well a chick who couldnt do shit. We finally got on our way to find a tire place and I dont even remember how we did it but we found some used tire place that ended up not being too expensive.

Once in Orlando things were okay. We had decided to go in January when it normally isnt real cold or crowded but all of a sudden there was a huge cold snap and I think it ended up being colder there than at home. Thus more money ended up having to be thrown out to buy a sweatshirt.

The girls I went with loved to club and I wasnt into it and stayed in the hotel a few nights and ended up wracking up a $1000+ cellphone bill since I didnt realize how long distance and roaming works apparently.

One of the girls was a serious penny pincher and would only pay to the cent what she though her part of the bill was. Another girl was married and constantly wanted attention from every dude we met. And the other girl well I just didnt really like her from work.

At the end of the week we all hated each other so much that after being up all day and at the parks we decided to just leave that night instead of the next morning. Only this time we drove straight through meaning I drove 16 hours after being up for like 10 hours already. No clue how I didnt crash because I swear there were times that I did doze off for a few seconds. The girl who couldnt drive, yeah she slept in the back seat the whole ride home.

Bitch.

So did I learn my lesson about going on vacation with this group of girls?

No we ended up going again the next year and it was just as bad.

My honeymoon in 2010. We went to Greece for a few days, then Italy for 2 weeks, and then the UK for 10 days. I was amazed at all the ancient buildings in Greece that are just in the middle of everything, Italy (especially Pompeii and Florence) was great, but my favourite was definitely the UK. We got to see Stonehenge, which has always been a life goal for me, and some castles. One of my favourite parts was when my husband and I went to Cardiff Castle in Wales, and while we were there it started snowing. Where we live in Sydney, Aus it never snows so this was something pretty special for us. We did a lot of flying around obviously, and this was good because it really helped me with my fear of flying.

What about yours, Gina? :)

That's hard because I've had a lot of great trips.  But my best one was probably visiting Washington DC summer of 2005 after my high school graduation.  It was a gift from multiple family members.  Grandma bought the plane ticket, parents gave me spending money, and my cousin and her husband let me stay with them for two week and paid for all my museum admission fees.

A couple months prior my cousin had mailed me a guidebook of the area and told me to make a list of everything I wanted to see, starring what I wanted to see the most.

When I arrived she had a beanie baby (those were huge) that had a dc logo, some dc postcards, a mini notebook and maps of DC on my bed waiting for me.

That is one of my best vacations, but also my best memories.

Gina, you didn't share yours!

Ahhh!  I've had a ton of great vacations so it's hard to pick just one.  I think the roadtrip my family took from Minnesota to Washington is my favorite.  We planned for a week to make the trip out there so we could enjoy all the sights along the way.  It was the first time I had seen the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, snow in July, the Rockies, bison, and on and on and on....lots of great firsts on that trip!  Also, my family gets along very well in a vehicle - we play silly car games, tell stories, and I was able to read about ten books on that trip (yay!).  We bought food at grocery stores and made lunches and dinners at rest stops.  My parents did that to save some money, and I am so glad they did that instead of eating at restaurants - some of the rest areas were really pretty and it gave us a chance to stretch our legs and walk around outside.  Once we reached our destination we met up with family that lives out there.  That was a blast to see their home.  Also, that was the first time I'd seen an ocean.  Very cool.  So many wonderful memories from that trip!
