Over the past three years, I’ve made some major changes. I started on a new path by pasting some magazine clippings on a poster board, running off to an ashram for a month, and (as Joseph Campbell would say) “following my bliss.” I jumped from a 9-5 job, to freelance writing/teaching yoga, and finally ended up as the Editor-in-Chief of Crazysexylife.com, a wellness website and blog created by health goddess Kris Carr.
While on this wild ride, writing was always my rock and my heart. Along the way I have written for magazines and completed a novel (or two), which continues to be my passion today. My literary agent is Rebecca Strauss at McIntosh & Otis Inc., Literary Agency.
I’ve learned through these adventures that if you listen to your gut, stay focused, and work hard, anything is possible. I hope that this blog will inspire you to do the same. I live in Baltimore, MD with my rockstar/scientist husband, Steve, and our two rescue cats, Thomas and Sweet Pea. Stay tuned for the tips, lessons learned, and experiences I’ll continue to share as I pursue my writing aspirations and ignore the impossible.
Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
the journey of writing and manifesting your dreams
What makes you different from other bloggers?
I've documented my journey from working at a 9-5 job that I thought I was "supposed" to have, to following my gut and taking a leap into a career that doesn't have a safety net. Along the way, I discovered that I love to write fiction and I've learned that you can manifest your dreams if you're willing to take a leap of faith and believe in yourself.

I'm a big fan of Palahniuk, Klosterman, and Vonnegut. I've been meaning to give Ayn Rand a try, but I'm finding that I have all these other books to read and I haven't cracked open her stuff. Who else do you read?

A friend of mine told me that Stardust is VERY much a fantasy novel, more so than his other works. If you prefer darker themes/subject matter, I'd imagine American Gods fits that bill much better. It's definitely not light-hearted, lol.

I like Anansi Boys. It reminded me of Good Omens, a book that is light to read but has some weight to the themes it's dealing with. My only complaint is that the pay offs take a while to get to. Still, Anansi Boys was a welcomed treat. Do you like Stardust?
I read Nathan Bransford's blog, that's about it. I think I've learned about all there is to learn about queries, and mine's as good as it's gonna get. Good luck with your novel.
