Okay okay, obviously there's a 20sb meetup this summer, but from the looks of it, a lot of us aren't going. Chicago's not exactly near North Carolina, unfortunately.
But I thought maybe we can work on an NC meetup. I know there are a few of us in t…
1985 Is just the best year to have been born in, smack dab in the middle of the 80's.
Sure we don't have a book named after our year like the 1984 kids, but step aside Big Brothers (or sisters) the 1985'ers are here.
Ah, the confinement of an "about me" box. The urge to write mindless babble about my love of walking on a sandy beach at sunset is starting to take over...
Okay, but "for really" (a phrase coined by a former roommate), I'm a reporter for a twice-weekly newspaper about 20 miles north of Charlotte, NC. I've loved the written word since I was young and someone told me I was good at it. My aspirations include, but are clearly not limited to, becoming a featured columnist, perhaps writing a book (children's book maybe?), writing for a French publication (or an English-language publication in France) and working with journalism ethics for the Society of Professional Journalists.
Yes, I'm aware that my primary goals surround work, but I've never been one for the white picket fence dream...
I'm starting grad school in the fall - hoping to maybe, if need be, escape journalism before it completely dessimates - and that'll bring an entirely new adventure to my otherwise lackluster life, ha.
Gabbing about the boringness of my life? Since 2001. Taking blogging more seriously? Several attempts since 2005.
Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
having absolutely nothing better to do
What makes you different from other bloggers?
A whole lot of nothing.
Yours truly with my new glasses. A friend mentioned I look like a pornographic librarian. Another commented on my Facebook that it's not "Pornbook" and I should "take this photo elsewhere." The folks (a word that has become part of my everyday vernacular since moving to the South) I know are clearly a bunch of lunatics - i.e. my kind of people.
This is my two-year-old puppy Sophie. She's talked about quite often on my blog - mostly my adventures in attempting to be a great dog-mommy - and she's quite adorable to look at, but, then again, I'm rather biased. She's a Heinz 57 mix, meaning she's everything from black lab to chihuahua, and she's a gigantic pain in my ass. Yet since I adopted her in March 2008, I haven't been able to imagine life without her.

I've actually lived all over the state. I grew up in Fayetteville, did undergrad in Charlotte, did my masters in Greenville and now i live in Calabash on the NC/SC border.
Hey MinD, I was wondering if you had any debate topic ideas? If you ever think of a good one, let me know, because I've noticed you're articulate and active in the debates!

And I'm a theatre freak, so I wouldn't know what to love about Penn State, except that it's in Altoona, which is fun to say.
If you can't love me (which is cool since I'm married) at least try to love my blog. It's an extension of me at any rate.
