Studying for Finals

Okay, so I've been back at school for a year and a half now, and I'm currently studying for this semester's final exams, which are two weeks away. The reason that this is earth-shattering is that this is the first semester at this school that I've taken two classes at once AND these are my last two required courses. So, it's all drudge, but, I'm SO EXCITED about starting my degree-specific coursework this fall.My major is Organizational Leadership and Technology (it's half a management degree…See More

Tis the Season... to be busy...

Posted on December 6, 2007 at 6:55pm 0 Comments

I did 75% of my Christmas shopping online... yesterday.

The other 25% I've had for 6 months. :-) ~shrug~

I'm SO TIRED.

I'm working 40 a week at my regular job, even though I've got the chance for OT, which NEVER happens... but, I can't take on more because I'm working on that book and on my annual cad/design salary survey.

These are my busiest months of the year, and I am so strung out from work that I can hardly concentrate on my other stuff.

I'm… Continue

WooHoo! A repeat (paying) customer!

I am SO psyched!

I just got an email today from the Author(ess) that I worked on my first book with(for).

She had about three books due all about the same time, and needed someone to help with writing some chapters, and I asked for the job. So, that was my first real live, printed book.

I do write quite a bit... mostly on my blog, for an eZine and for a printed magazine... that's sort of peanuts. And almost all of the freelance editing/proofreading I do is small… Continue

Where does the time go?

Posted on November 6, 2007 at 6:43pm 0 Comments

I pop around to my favorite sites (like blogher, twentysomething bloggers, oomph, sparkpeople and damsels in success) as often as I can... but, somehow, time slips through my fingers and I begin to miss things I never intended to miss.

I also see NaNoWriMo has fired up again, and I am left in the dust. I got to about 15k words last year, I think, but, didn't finish because in addition to last year's salary survey, I was also hired to write in a book (and get paid for it), so I had to… Continue

Where have I been? Wandering, of course.

I just wanted to give a rundown of

what I've been doing and what I will be doing in the near future so the

curious faithful readers (yes, both of you) can have some insight.

It all started last fall. I was working on the Salary Survey, which takes up more than enough of my… Continue

Thanks Melanie. Those are some kind words that you nudged my way. I appreciate them.

I'm glad you like the Inkpot so far. I'm changing the angle in about a week. Hopefully, you'll still like it.

22 is a great age to get a job as a technical writer. It gives you a bit more of an edge. My boyfriend is also a technical writer. He enjoys his job. However, he's more interested in writing novels. All in good time =)

A church newsletter is a great place to start. I'm sure that looked good on your resume. Anything that shows you're dedicated and experienced. I'm glad that opportunity was available to you.

It's great that you write short stories. Are you published? If not, you should send out some manuscripts (check out Glitter Train). Now, if I could only take my own advice. Lol.

Ah, the Old Days. I had almost forgotten them. Until yesterday. That's when I realized that poetry packages still travel through snail mail. I'll tell you what, it takes a long time for a rejection letter to get back to me! Lol.

I'm glad you've got a great job doing something you enjoy. That's always important =)

Hello :) I read on the forum that you're a freelance technical writer, and that you may branch out into creative writing one day. Were you working as a writer before your 20th birthday? (Wow. If a person hadn't read the forum, they'd think that question was really weird.)
