I am from Long Island, New York. My mom is Peruvian and Italian; My biological dad is Peruvian and French; My (step/real) dad is Greek; I have four older siblings, who are all very different. Hilarity, drama and a whole bunch of love ensued daily when I was growing up.
I graduated from Boston College in May 2008, traveled to Peru and China, and then realized that I needed to try and be part of the so-called real world. After my "valiant" efforts at job-searching, I gave up and took a retail job at AnnTaylor (a store I am loyal to because it got me through my lack-of-cash college years). After that I realized that I should probably look for a job that was closer to my field (English major), so I ventured to my high school and drudged up a job in their Student Support Center as a tutor. Finally! Something I could use my degree for! Around the same time, I applied for an internship at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and worked there in their Collections Management department until Oct 2009. Around that time, by serendipitous events, I got an interview and am now an Editorial Assistant in NYC! The holy-grail! :)
When I'm not at work, I am reading, playing boardgames, exploring new parts of the city, buying more books, hanging out with friends or my family, taking books out from the library and attempting to write.
It wasn't until I read Julie & Julia (don't judge me) that I thought, "Hey, maybe I can attempt to have a blog too." This prompted my stressing about the blog name and content for about three weeks, and then finally deciding to write about what I know best: books and how each page/sentence/author effects my everyday life.
I'm still working out the kinks, and just trying to be myself. My goal is to post more regularly. Let's see how that goes :)
Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
books, sarcasm, humor, foreign parents
What makes you different from other bloggers?
I've been a bookworm all my life, I cannot think of a time when I have not been able to connect my life to a book I was reading. So I guess I just wanted to share my thoughts on the books I read with people who also love to read. I believe that each person has at least one book that they are meant to read, kind of like a literary soul-mate. So if by mentioning a book on my blog, I can help that one person read their "soul-book", then I've done what I set out to do...And if they've laughed along the way, that's a much-appreciated bonus.
