In addition to the hypochondria that I have been told I suffer from, I have recently been diagnosed (self diagnosed, but that's not important) with Misophonia. Literally, Misophonia means "hatred of sound", most specifically sounds which non-misophoniacs would classify as "quiet" noises such as chewing or breathing. These noises can annoy or even infuriate a sufferer of Misophonia, such as myself.

The heart wants what the heart wants. We’ve all heard the saying before. Most of us have probably even used it ourselves, usually as an excuse for doing something that our brain was screaming at us to back away from (or run like hell). And it’s the phrase that popped into my head last night as I was talking to one of my guy friends…although in his case it was more likely a different organ that wanted what it wanted. He’s the kind of friend who I’m always trying to turn into a better person…Continue

I do not have a stress fracture in my right foot. I am just arthritic in both feet and have been fitted for custom inserts for my running shoes. I couldn't be happier. I will never take running for granted ever again. Those days where I sit on my butt and go "No, I don't think I'll run." I will immediately remember how it was when I couldn't run and get my butt out the door!
So, you know what this means? I am clear to run the 2012 Disney Princess Half Marathon this…Continue

How difficult is it to not do something? It’s not even an action. It’s a non-action so it should require no effort right? Yea…tell that to an alcoholic who’s trying not to drink. Turns out, not doing something is a lot harder than it sounds, mainly because the thing you’re trying not to do is replaced by a million other doings just to keep you distracted. Am I babbling? Yea, I’m definitely babbling. Time to step away from the coffee Cat and have a little chat. Shit…now I’m…Continue

For those of you who DON'T know me, I am Haleigh...nice to meet you :)
Here's my story...I am not much of a blogger, (probably not the best way to start off a blog but) I promise...THIS TIME will be different! err....I pinky promise? I am recently married to an awesome man we'll call J (as of October 1, 2011 (insert YAY!!!). As if planning a wedding were not time consuming enough (while we both have full time jobs in the adult world) we decided we wanted to stop with…

The first time I tried a blood orange was with breakfast in my dorm in Italy. Did I mention that my dorm was actually a retired monastery perched on the tip top of Cortona? Every morning two carafes of juice waited downstairs in the meal room alongside hard rolls, sliced deli meat, cheese, and some biscuit-like cookies. The carafes contained blood orange juice…

All right boys and girls! I am officially un-plugging and going off grid for a couple of days while I’m in LAS VEGAS! Please wish me luck so that I can avoid:
I am once again attempting to use this blog for a forum of good, not evil. This time I have set my sights a little higher than getting my little brother a college scholarship.
In November of 2011 President Obama signed an agricultural bill that lifted the ban on horse slaughter in the US. The signing of this bill reversed the 2006 decision to end the slaughter of horses in the US for their meat.
I don’t know if you’ve ever met me or not, but if you have, you know that I LOVE…Continue

". . . I would come up here a lot. I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason too." -Hugo Cabret
I absolutely loved Martin Scorsese's Hugo. The wonders…Continue

And we’re back! Did you miss me? Oh come on, I know you did. I missed me too. You know, the sarcastic-when-it’s-funny, self-deprecating-not-self-pitying, non-whiny me. Not that annoying bitch that’s been hanging around here lately boo-hooing and why-meing. She’s a pain in the ass and I had to take a couple days off from here to wrestle her into the sad little corner where she belongs. Don’t worry though. I gave her some tinker toys to play with and a chocolate cake to gorge on. It’s not like…Continue

The first major roadblock were petty arguments among the cofounders (my sisters) because there were too many chefs in the kitchen. That was resolved . . . for now at least. The next hurdle was finding a location. We found a location and so negotiating the lease shouldn't be a big deal…Continue

Good news! I have managed to keep Frederick and Zumi alive thus far! KNOCK ON WOOD! Seriously! Everybody who just read that sentence- knock on wood immediately! I mean it, don’t you dare keep reading until you have knocked on some wood. Have you done it? Promise? Good. Carry on then. (I’m a little superstitious could ya tell? Ask my friend Carley about it, our knuckles were practically bleeding from knocking on wood so many times during our state championship volleyball game-I’m…Continue

“Oh God, where are the apple slices?” We went over it I know we did, was there an extras button, or a fruits section? I can hear the customers growing impatient as the rhythm of his finger tapping gets faster. Like the hands of a clock his tapping is telling me I’m running out of time. There was a time when apple slices were just a juicy snack instead of something that sent my life into chaos. That was before grease stains, unflattering uniforms and spilled cola became a regular part of…Continue

Juicing. So much to say, to preach, to explain. For now, here is what I juiced today.
3 carrots, 1 Ruby Red grapefruit, 1 granny smith apple, 1 large tomato, and 1 cup of blueberries.
