The Bloggers With The Most To Say
Inspired by my dryhumping buddy T and a random scene in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, I have decided to bring you an infomercial about pineapples.
Did you know that a pineapple is the universal fruit of friendship?
Yeah. I didn't know that either until I did a product knowledge course for my course. What do pineapples have to do with Vodka, Rum and Gin? Nothing. The guy leading the course was just random.
How do you think this came about? Did the pilgrims go up to the Native Americans, bearing gifts and then there'd be a conversation like this:
NA (Native Americans. Because I'm lazy.): "erm. Okay. Thanks. I didn't know we were exchanging gifts. Now this is a bit awkward" *rummagerummage* Where's that ugly guano bowl your mother gave for our anniversary? *rummagerummage* "here, we present you with this"
Pilgrims: "cool. It's all spikey and smells nice. Just once question. What is it"
NA: *scoffs* "it's a PI-ne-APPLE"
Pilgrims: "erm. Thanks?"
NA: "it's totally like a symbol for friendship and stuff. Didn't they teach you that in school?"
Pilgrims: "oh yeah, they totally did. I just forgot. Sowwee."
And thus the pineapple was known as the international fruit of friendship.
ps: it's actually quite interesting. Read about the history of the pineapple!
pps: Yeah, I totally realise that I've just revealed my inner geekyness.
ppps: and I know it's a fruit of hospitality (well, didn't know till I read the aforementioned article) but fruit of friendship sounds so much better!
